On May 28, 2020, in response to the televised murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department, Columbus community leaders and members gathered on the city's east side to express their outrage at police violence towards people of color. The crowd included representatives from community groups including People’s Justice Project, Feminist Flagcorps, Women Have Options Ohio, BQIC, Columbus Freedom Coalition, and Remember Us Urban Scouts.
